JONESBOROUGH CHURCH OF CHRIST MEETING MINUTES 08-10-2025

ATTENDEES:  J.C. Byas, Bernie McNamara, Dallas Hensley, Perry Clark, Shawn Oleinik, Mark Macinturf, Darin Crawford, Mickey Brunjes, David Reel Sr., David Reel Jr., Nathan Reel, Martin Howard, Tony Keys, Danny Echols, Charlton Rhinehart, David Pallotti

After an opening prayer, led by Darin Crawford, the meeting was called to order by David Pallotti. The primary purpose for the meeting was to gain consensus from the congregation for the continued support of evangelist Jeremy Lynd, who expressed his desire to continue his work with the Jonesborough church.

David Pallotti read out the expectations and goals for the coming year from Jeremy and after lengthy discussion, the congregation approved.  The primary expectations for the evangelist would be to prepare and deliver all Sunday morning and Sunday evening sermons and teach 2 quarters per year.  He would be compensated with 4 weeks of paid vacation, plus an allowance for 1 gospel meeting, and would receive annual salary increases.  His current compensation of $80,000 annually is to be split $40,000 as salary and $40,000 as housing allowance. There is no set time limitation for his services and both parties agree to provide 3-6 months notice for termination.  Any preaching or teaching which strays from Bible truth would be grounds for termination.

J.C. Byas then presided over the rest of the meeting and provide an update as to the status of ordering new chairs.  Shawn Olenik had previously offered to check his sources for a better deal on the chairs, but encountered complications.  J.C. then will order 50 additional cushioned chairs to be added to the 85 already in place, bring the total number or cushioned chairs to 135, which is the maximum seating capacity in the current auditorium.  The chairs will cost $132 each, requiring a 50% deposit.  Delivery is expected in about 2 months, at which time the payment balance will be due.

J.C. also explained about tax advantages of donating required minimum distributions (RMD) to the church for those members aged 73 or older.

Perry Clark requested that those who lead prayers would project their voices better into the microphone to ensure audibility for the hearing impaired.

Charlton Rhinehart suggested that we consider hosting a Vacation Bible School next summer.  That suggestion will be addressed at the next meeting.

JONESBOROUGH CHURCH OF CHRIST MEETING MINUTES 04-27-2025

ATTENDEES:  J.C. Byas, Tony Sayre, Jeremy Lynd,  Dallas Hensley, Perry Clark, Mark Macinturf, Darin Crawford, Mickey Brunjes, David Reel Sr., , David Reel Jr., Joshua Reel, Martin Howard, Tony Keys, Danny Echols, Charlton Rhinehart, Calvin Watson, Peter Vilander, David Pallotti

After an opening prayer, led by Tony Sayre, the meeting was called to order by J.C. Byas. The meeting was specifically called to determine whether the church wanted to change its procedures in serving the Lord’s Supper.

J.C. opened by explaining the way the Lord’s Supper was administered pre-Covid.

Tony Sayre proposed to return the previous way of carrying out the Lord’s Supper prior to Covid.

Perry Clark objected to the current way of handling the Lord’s Supper in that not enough time was taken between prayers for reflection.

Several men voiced concerns that returning to the format of passing trays would be more time consuming and distracting.

After a lengthy discussion, Dallas Hensley suggested that the administration of the Lord’s Supper remain as is, that is, using the pre-packaged emblems and taking it all together and it was agreeable by all.

Charlton Rhinehart questioned the contents of the pre-packaged elements to ensure they were actual bread and grape juice.  Tony Sayre was going to verify the ingredients and report back.

David Pallotti requested that two men be enlisted to assist at the table to help with prayers.  All the men agreed and Charlton suggested that Tony Keys add one person to the service duty roster to assist at the table beginning with the June schedule.

Mark McInturff motioned that the administration of the Lord’s Supper on Sunday night be similar to the process on Sunday morning.  The suggestion was accepted and will be adopted beginning in May.

The meeting ended ahead of schedule, so other topics were briefly brought up.

Dallas stated that he is currently doing some work on the ditch on the church property to make it safer for the children when playing in the yard.

Darin Crawford suggested a spring cleaning day at the church building and Martin Howard agreed to schedule one.
